Home Solar System
Reduce your monthly electricity bills by investing in clean and green solar energy.
When sunlight falls on solar panels, they generate DC electricity. The solar inverter takes DC (Direct Current) from solar panels and converts it into AC (Alternating Current). Electrical equipment and appliances like fans, lights, refrigerators, air conditioners, heaters, etc. now run on this AC.
m-UJALA manufactures Solar Hybrid Inverters. This is the latest offering in India's solar market. Hybrid inverters have battery backup and can be charged by solar energy as well as the grid, so that the battery lasts for a much longer time. When the sun is up and panels generate DC electricity, it charges the batteries through solar power and when the batteries are fully charged, it disconnects itself from the main grid to power the house with solar energy stored in batteries. If the panels are not making enough power to charge the batteries then it takes the remaining voltage and current from the grid to make sure that the batteries are always charged optimally.
m-UJALA Solar Home System can power your entire house depending on your requirement and also powers all electrical systems, including lights, Fan, TV, Refrigerator and Other appliances. In fact we can guarantee you up to 5 to 6 hours of Solar power. A 1Kva solar system can provide an average of 3/4 units (AC energy) electricity per day.
We offer various options to choose based on your load requirement & budget: 1Kva, 3Kva, 5Kva options. Our m-UJALA consultants will help you choose the exact system for your requirements.
We provide real time monitoring of our solar systems which enables smooth running and helps to track & resolve problems instantly. All activities are recorded at our network operating center above on UJALA TRACK our software, so that pro active real time customer support can be provided.
Yes, We can help you with EMI & finance options. We are associated with various banks or financial institutions.
If maintained properly our solar inverters can last more than 10 years. Our solar panel is probably one of the strongest and most durable structures that will last you a minimum of 25 years.
Most of the solar panels are installed on the rooftop. However, they can also be mounted on the ground. You would need a shadow-free area of approx. 10sqmtr to accommodate 1Kva solar panels. Please make sure that the area gets maximum sun light and there is no tall obstacle coming in between the sun rays and the panel.
For India the direction is South. This is because our country India, lies in the Northern hemisphere so when the sun travels, it takes an elliptical trajectory going from east to west having an inclination towards south. Hence to get the maximum quantity of solar energy we have to place our panel accordingly. As you can see, be it summer or winter, the inclination is towards south.
The tilt angle is determined according to the latitude of your position. For example, if you are living in Cochin-Kerala, the tilt angle for your solar panel will be approx. 10-12 degree. On the other hand if your panel is in Delhi, your tilt angle will be almost 20- 30 degree. Your solar installer will select the best angle for solar panels.
In many applications we permanently mount the panels to the roof of your cottage/cabin and without issue when proper sealant is used. We do have a new line of Portable Solar kits that are easily set-up on the ground and are not meant to be a permanent option.
Solar panels do work even on cloudy days, days where we receive less sunlight and mostly all the time before sunset. Although its output energy generation may reduce during different times of the day but you have batteries to store the excess electricity collected during the day, so you never really run out of power!
And since our inverter is of the hybrid variety, if the panels are not making enough power to charge the batteries then it takes remaining voltage and current from the grid to make sure that the batteries get charged.
Highly sensitive electronic instruments like Microwaves, Television sets, Stereo's, CPAP machines, Speed control motors, are designed to work only on Pure Sine Wave. So using anything else can permanently damage them.
Modified Sine wave inverters (MSWI) are cheaper, but have higher THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) which simply means higher distortions. Because of these distortions MSWI produce a 'humming noise' and heats your appliances. And also reduces their life. Your appliances will operate with a reduced efficiency of 20% with a modified sine wave inverter, and they will wear off prematurely and eventually stops working.
A charge controller regulates the charge on the batteries, giving full power when necessary and reducing the charge as the batteries require less. This is important for maintaining the health of the batteries.
m-UJALA uses a MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) charge controller which is inbuilt into the inverter. This is a newer type controller that not only provides multi-stage charging, but it also delivers more power to the batteries by matching the battery voltage to the solar panel voltage. This makes them more efficient especially in varying levels of sunshine.
Has your battery got so discharged that it gets impossible to charge it again? Even after giving it sufficient power supply for long hours the battery holds no charge and is not able to give any back up. This condition is called deep discharge.
For a basic 12V tubular battery, when the battery voltage drops to 10V or below, the battery loses it 'capacity' to hold charge. At this stage a normal inverter cannot recharge the battery again. For 'reviving' a deep discharged battery it has to be sent to the service station. Which will cost you precious time and money.
To prevent a deep discharge or an over charge situation, we have added a protection feature in our inverters. The decided two cut off levels for a basic 12v tubular battery is: Lower cut off voltage is usually at 10.5V and the higher cut off voltage is set at 14.4V.
If the total wattage from solar panels is 1000W or 1Kva then you need an inverter of typical ratings of 1000W/1250VA (0.8pf) approximately sized battery bank based on your hours of storage requirement.
Size of the solar inverters depends on the connected load. It is better to keep at least 25% higher capacity of inverter than that of the total power ratings of connected load. Battery sizing depends on the depth of discharge and backup time required to run the connected load in absence of the solar energy or other source of energy (Grid/DG).
There are other things to consider such as power factor of inverter and other technical things. When you call us for installing solar at your place, our trained team sizes the solar system based on your unique needs.
For example, if solar inverter is connected to a single 150ah battery then the battery needs only 15 amps of current. Solar panels may generate less current on cloudy days say about 7-10amps. However, the battery needs 15amps in order to be fully charged. Your home solar inverter should be able to draw the deficit current (8 or 5amps) from mains to charge the battery. This is called Charging Sharing'.
But if there is no 'Charge Sharing', then there is 15amps coming from solar panels and 15amps coming from mains, and they will deliver the combined current i.e. 30amps to your 150ah battery. Remember, 150ah battery needs only 15 amps of current ! This leads to overcharging which is detrimental for batteries. This may reduce the life of you battery by one year. Your battery may bulge and start releasing toxic fumes.
Also because your stupid solar inverter is still drawing currents from the mains - you will have to pay a hefty electricity bill. This defeats the entire purpose of having a solar inverter for home in the first place.
When your inverter is at fault, why be forced to live in dark. Buy an inverter that has 'automatic bypass switch'. This means that it can bypass itself and get you electricity straight from the mains. While it is getting repaired you can enjoy the comfort that electrical appliances provide.
